Sharon Leonard - Practice Manager

Hello
My name is Sharon Leonard and I am the Practice Manager at Woodlands Family Medical Centre. I came into post at Woodlands on 1st October 2013, following the retirement of Sue Browne. My employment background is purely NHS Primary Care (General Practice), apart from a two year post at a private hospital, working as Primary Care Manager, liaising with GP's and Practice Managers all over the North East.
I have spent over 20 years in Practice Management and over 10 years working in the Primary Care Trust, so I have extensive knowledge and experience of General Practice.
I'm very proactive in the practice, so please don't hesitate to contact me if there is anything I can help with.

Brenda Brackenbury - Deputy Manager

I am Deputy Practice Manager for Woodlands Family Medical Centre. I first came to Woodlands through a placement on behalf of a 'Women's Skills Course' in May 1990. I had previously been 'at home' looking after my children but with various part-time jobs.

After completing the placement of 8 weeks, I was offered a permanent post for which I, obviously, accepted. I started as a receptionist and then progressed to 'other roles' within the Practice and eventually was offered the role of Deputy Practice Manager.

Michelle Marshall - Deputy Manager

I have recently been given the role of Deputy Practice Manager which I job share with Brenda Brackenbury.  I started my employment with Woodlands Family Medical Centre in January 2003 on a fixed term contract as a Medical Summariser, but in July 2003 I was offered permanent employment as part of the administration team.  I then progressed to Administration Supervisor before progressing to my current role.  Prior to working at Woodlands Family Medical Centre I worked for a surgery in Middlesbrough and before that as a Dental Nurse.

Doug - PPG Chairperson

I’m a born and bred Stocktonian, in fact this practice delivered me many many years ago. I attended Oxbridge infants, Holy Trinity junior and Stockton Grammar.

I worked in my chosen career for over 35 years, unfortunately in 2006 I was diagnosed with a serious health problem so when the opportunity of early retirement came along in 2008 I readily accepted.

In October 2011 I was fortunate enough to join the Woodlands Patient Participation Group when it was created. I had to resign in March 2014, due to personal reasons not connected to WPPG, but was fortunate to be able to return in October 2014. I‘m positive I can bring something to this group and assist it in its aims of not only maintaining but hopefully improving the already high standards of service offered at Woodlands FMC. douglandin2012@btinternet.com

I am a carer for an adult with autism and severe learning difficulties and had a number of years experience working in the local community and nationally to improve provision for severely handicapped people.
I am interested in trying to improve health care for severely handicapped people and their carer's.
Also I would like to see a more person centred approach to healthcare.

I have lived in Stockton for over 50 years and have been registered with this practice for that time.

We have 2 children and 5 grandchildren all of whom live locally and use this practice.

I am now retired having worked as both a teacher and an administrator.

I hope that I can make a worthwhile contribution to the work of the PPG.
